Project Update

I have developed some sound for my project and decided to create a small movie instead of a gif using my illustrations. I played around recording various sounds of guitar, drums, cello, voice and then distorted, modified and edited then together and produced a quite creepy sort of audio track that will set the mood for the film and compliment the film. At this point the concept of the my video will be about the transformation, morphing and changing of emotions and moods through the combination of strong visuals using bold colours complemented by the sound.

Below are some screenshots of my sound development and also images from the movie itself so far, i am also considering including some photography within the film as well.

Progress (Sort of)

slight progress on the gif-making front; i've gone back to the very first gif i made of Ronnie Shalvis in cosplay doing a backflip. i think i'll use this as more or less the final project, and expand more on this.
as you can see i've added some more frames and played around with the speed and frame rate - i'm trying to make it look like it's glitching by adding and moving around some copies of initial frames.

these next few weeks i'll be looking into making a background and adding in other effects to make it look more fluid and less...well...ordinary.

stay tuned.

Postcards

Just a note on the post below to Jack....I recently did a similar sort of protect with ink in water...

I used metallic paints and did it in the photography studios at Curtin.

motion

I am trying to take the photo of puncture moment, water layering, and i will using the photo shop to do some slow in motion. At the first, i am still trying hard to take some pucture moment.

Gif development

I have been continuing my gif experiments with stereo photography and and I am beginning to explore new avenues for gif making that really place emphasis on the notion of materiality. I am particularly interested in creating multi-layered effects by layering different photographs of the same subject over one another.

gif tests and developments

Here are a few more tests I have made, a couple of which I have used other effects in order to produce a new quality of visual effect.

I have been attempting to enhance the overall effect of te stereo gif by exploring different Photoshop filters and effects. The various filters I have used have produced a rather raw aesthetic, as a result of this particular photograph's subject.

Satchi Gallery Motion Photography Prize

Jeremy showed me the submissions for the Satchi Gallery Motion Photography Prize, which I was really enamoured by. Motion Photography seems to just be a more formal word for gif, so I was interested to see the various artistic manipulations of animation and photography. The results are very interesting and show just how much creative control you can have when creating your own gif. These motion photographic images demonstrate the way in which creativity can exceed beyond a still image and accentuate its materiality by using the element of motion to transform itself. These transformations really highlight the materiality of each image by proceeding to tell a story and construct an entire new aesthetic quality.

Here are a couple more animated gifs that demonstrate my experimentation with focal point within the frame. As you can see from the two images below, changing the focal point can have quite a significant impact. The top images fp is set to the plant in the background, and the bottom image has its fp set on the small group of flowers protruding in the foreground. The stereo gif's focal point can ultimately determine the 3D effect given (i.e. whether the wobble occurs within the background or foreground).

Hello today I am at uni but in the print dept. Seeing as it takes a while to clean up I may as well do everything I can with the screen before coming to class today. I've been screenprinting the images made on Word just to see how that goes.

Here are some images I made last night from images taken from my iPhone

Cant open Inkscape or Gimp

As the title explains this week I have struggled to simply open either program as neither would load.  Such begins my journey with legitimate image editing programs.

I did buy some A2 paper to screen print onto in order to realise my collages on a larger scale.
