Media artist Christian Marclay explores the notion of composition through the medium of video. Marclay selects a range of videos of captured musical excerpt from various films/footage, and presents each excerpt concurrently and adapts the sounds from each video to create a unique symphonic quartet. The manner of composition is both one of synchronisation and juxtaposition as each video differs greatly from the other through elements such as age, lighting, framing, colour and light, etc., but somehow works in creating synchronisation.
