I talked with Jeremy in the previous class about the use of mobile apps like instagram and vine as a medium for capturing moments in time and presenting them to the public via the internet. Through a pretty lengthy selection of tacky filters (which I ALWAYS use :p) we can digitally alter images to appear more aesthetically appealing and visually charming. Likes and comments are generated through the relevance of the subject of photographs, or how 'pretty' these pictures are in their final form.
The app Vine, is used as a similar medium for sharing digitally edited pictures with the public. People can use the app to take short videos, which are composed into one final video. When you think of Vine, you probably automatically recall "funniest vine's" pages etc., on Facebook. Comedy seems to be one of the main ways the app is used, but these silly videos can be totally blown out of the water by fabulous short home-made movies. I follow actor/musician Adam Goldberg on vine, and his short experimental pieces are the reason I regularly check in to the app. Using the aid of other media such as iPhone camera lenses and unknown sound editing software, Goldberg's vine channel is composed of many stunning mini-films that leave you wondering HOW he made such an artistically intricate piece of film with such a simple app?
